Print and Digital Editions

Your subscription includes six print magazines sent to your classroom throughout the school year plus access to the digital versions at superscience.scholastic.com.

Digital Resource Guide

Each issue of SuperScience includes a Digital Resource Guide with helpful tools for teaching with the magazine in your classroom. Inside, you’ll find four step-by-step lesson plans that correspond to features in the issue. You’ll also find differentiation tips for lessons, clear standards correlations, and much more. Here’s where you can download each Digital Resource Guide for the entire issue.

Skill-Building Activity Sheets

The Digital Resource Guide also includes at least 10 printable or projectable standards-aligned skills sheets per issue. These activities support reading comprehension and writing skills and reinforce science and engineering practices. For more information about skills sheets and where to find them, click here

Google Quizzes

In addition to regular skills sheets, SuperScience also includes pre-made Google Quizzes that can be shared directly with your students in Google Classroom. To learn more about using Google Quizzes, click here.

Templates

Help students master science practices and build their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills with our library of graphic organizers, including brainstorming tools and reading comprehension activities. These templates can be used with any SuperScience article. To access these skills sheets, click here.

Interactive Games

Each issue comes with one standards-aligned interactive game, which includes discussion questions. Click here to access a full game archive, which is sortable by subject.

Leveled Texts

Every feature article in SuperScience is available at two reading levels. Select the article that you want to read. If it’s a feature article, the multiple reading levels will appear in the toolbar on the left. Choose the preferred level. The text-to-speech tool can also be used to read either level aloud. To learn more, click here.

Background Videos

Capture students’ attention with engaging, ad-free videos that include the option for closed-captioning. Background videos make great pre-reading activities and build essential core knowledge on topics covered in the magazine.

Videos can be found throughout our site: through the search feature, on article pages, on issue pages, in our video archive, and within each issue’s presentation view.

Standards

SuperScience supports the three dimensions of the Next Generation Science Standards. Plus, on-level nonfiction and skills sheets help you meet state and national language arts standards (including Texas Essential Knowledge and Common Core State Standards for grades 3-6). For more information, click here. And refer to the Digital Resource Guide for specific standards covered in each issue.

Family Engagement Letter

Communicate the science concepts covered in each SuperScience issue to parents and caregivers with a one-page letter that’s easy to send or email home. You can find the family engagement letter for the latest issue here.

Digital Slideshows

Build further knowledge on topics covered in feature articles with visually appealing digital slideshows. Look for the “What’s Really Going On Here” icon in your magazines or find it online here.

These collections of editor-curated content center around a set of skills or theme. Themed text sets include collections of our favorite stories on particular science topics or themes.
