The Field Museum in Chicago has a gargantuan new resident. It’s a model of a titanosaur—the largest dinosaur ever found. Scientists think the living animal weighed as much as 10 African elephants!
A farmer in Argentina first spotted the titanosaur’s buried thighbone in 2010. When scientists dug deeper, they found more than 200 preserved bones. To show off the species, museum workers made casts of the 100-million-year-old fossils and put them together. Sculptors filled in pieces that were missing.
Visitors can walk beneath and touch the model, nicknamed Máximo. But to see its head up close, they’ll need to take an elevator. Standing 8.5 meters (28 feet) tall, Máximo reaches all the way up to the second-floor balcony!
