The flower to the right looks like it’s straight out of a Disney movie, but it’s real! The image was captured by photographer Craig Burrows. He uses a special type of light called ultraviolet light (UV light) to make flowers glow.

UV light is invisible to the human eye. But when the light hits certain chemicals, it causes them to glow different colors. Burrows has found that all flowers glow under UV light. But some, like daisies and sunflowers, glow more brightly than others.

In nature, some flowers use UV light from the sun to attract insects that can see it. These insects can help the plants reproduce. Burrows hopes his photos help people appreciate flowers more. “I hope they make people pay more attention to nature,” he says.
