Chocolate chips typically have a teardrop shape. But recently, these sweet morsels got a makeover to improve their tastiness! The company Dandelion Chocolate teamed up with engineer Remy Labesque to create a new type of chocolate chip. It holds its shape when you bake it and melts in your mouth. Yum!
Classic chocolate chips melt unevenly in the oven because of their thick shape. The Dandelion team wanted to make their chip as flat as possible so that it melted evenly for a better taste. The new chip is thin and looks like a flattened diamond.
To make the chips, the team designed a mold and a machine that fills the mold with chocolate. The company is thrilled with Labesque’s new design: “We paid him in chocolate,” jokes Jennifer Roy of Dandelion Chocolate.
